Now Gentle Repose That Bitch - November 18, 2022

 - Tiff spends a bit of time assuaging Tina to make sure she doesn't go into shock after having her ass handed to her in her first ever battle - That hot tea is coming in handy now.

- Osiris picks up Henry's body and sits him up against a headstone and consults her friends about what she might need to ask him

- Tiff then spends a moment to mix up a Transformation Elixir for Osiris who makes herself look like Lord Blackmore and everybody else backs off

- Osiris then casts Speak with dead on Henry

     - "Where have you and Juliana been hiding?" - We have been here.

    - "Has it only been you with Juliana or have there been other that I should be looking for?" - They were expecting Nathan.

     - "Who is Nathan?" - You know her brother-in-law.

     - "Was she casting something in the mausoleum?" - Yes.

     - "Where do your family in the city live?" - My sister lives outside the farmer's gate

- Lyrielle watches all this stuff happen from the roof of the mausoleum (DMS - Wall Walk)

- A short rest is had 

- Tina does some calisthenics as her version of a rest, which somehow annoys Osiris (again)

- Rusty carries Henry and they troupe back to the Temple

- A city guard stops them to ask them why they are carrying a body through town, they're explanation is above his pay grade / he doesn't have time for this

- Raiàn and Lyrielle head back to the Curlywit Boarding House

- They drop Henry off at the Rite wing, but there's nobody working because it's stupid o'clock in the morning and leave HP Birel a note

- A LONG REST IS HAD (First one in like four sessions)

- Mid-way through the next morning

- Osiris who wakes up first as always, so she hunts around the Temple and finds a font of holy water in the worship area that she can use to Scry, so she goes to try to wake up Tiff, who resists the waking up hard, so Tina and Osiris go instead

- "You might want to be less... you, for a little bit." - Osiris to Tina

- Osiris and Birel chat about Henry and have a general check-in about Lady Blackmore, the frost bull, etc.

- Tiff eventually shows up with a giant mug of tea (looks almost like a bucket in her hands)

- They head to Rowan's office to get permission to use the font, which she gives readily

- They head to the nave where the font is Osiris casts Scry on Lady Blackmore using the map / bird illusion canvas, but LB blocks the spell

- Tiff, Rusty, Osiris, and Rusty head to the Curlywit Boarding House where Lyrielle drops directly in front of them from from an awning

- Tina is introduced to Magnus, which might be a bad idea, but only time will tell

- Osiris Sends to Lord Blackmore, "Osiris here. Henry has fallen. Juliana escaped and we are looking for her. We need to know where Nathan lives. Or need to meet."

- He responds, "Sad to hear about Henry. Nathan lives near the halfling market. You must think Juliana is with her sister. Please be kind to her."

- Much discussion is had about what steps to take next and in what order

- They decide to go to the Groundswallow General Store to ask Tiff's parents if they know Nathan, and then maybe use Locate Object on LB's spell focus (wand)

- Vera G doesn't know Nathan, so they head back to the foot of the bridge, she takes Tiff's Elixir of Swiftness, and runs around with her Locate Object spell until she gets a ping in a blue house on the river NW of the Butterbeer Brewery.

- Osiris returns to the group and points out the building in question from the far side of the river

- Osiris Sends to Capt Swinson, "Osiris here. We have located the necromancer and need you to come with arresting backup to the west side of the halfling market near the river."

- The only response is, "On the way."

- They post up in the halfling market to watch the house, Tiff shows Tina around the market, Osiris lurks in the shadows, Lyrielle climbs something, Raiàn sits at a café on the river, Rusty becomes a bridge troll while they wait

- No one comes or goes in the meantime

- 30-45 minutes later a contingent of 10 guards shows up with the Captain

- They go up to the house, and Captain Swinson knocks and a woman who is not Juliana answers

- Juliana is in, and they are invited in

- Rusty waits at the back door. He tests the back door, and it doesn't seem to be locked.

- When JB sees the group enter the house, she immediately teleports (Dimension Door?) and materializes near the bridge which Rusty observes, so he whistles and gives chase

 

- 2,200 XP total ea. for 59,590 XP total ea.

The Penultimate Necromancer Battle #ShineThatTurd - November 11, 2022

 BATTLE AGAINST LADY BLACKMORE AND HENRY

- Rusty Rages and moves to Henry and chops him for 56 slashing dmg

- Lady Blackmore casts a spell that creates a fog and three zombies rise up from the graves

- Raiàn casts Fireball centered just behind H for 26 fire dmg, though LB only takes 13 and Rusty takes 6 fire dmg

- H raises his sword up and it starts to glow and then hits Rusty for 31 psychic and 26 (13) slashing dmg then he slices again for 22 (11) slashing dmg

- Lyrielle sneaks up to H and smacks him with her stick for 8 bludgeoning dmg and steadies herself into a defensive stance

- Zombie1 claws Osiris for 10 slashing dmg and then misses her

- Tina confirms that LB is the necromancer they are looking for with Tiff casts Fireball killing all three zombies and hurting LB for 30 fire dmg and H for 15, but also gets Rusty then gets yelled at by Tiff not to hit her friends with spells

- Osiris casts Cure Wounds on herself for 24 HP then drinks the Elixir of Flight Tiff gave her and flies up 10'.

- Tiff runs to Rusty and heals him for 18 HP then runs back 15' 

The fog expands and three more zombies appear

 

- Rusty slices into Henry for 47 slashing dmg

- LB casts a lightning spell of some sort (Chain Lightning) on Rusty that then arcs out and hits Osiris, Tina, and Raiàn (42 / 21 lightning dmg)

- Raiàn walks to within 10' of H and then breaths lightning at them for 9 lightning dmg (4 for H)

- H makes his sword glow again and then slices into Rusty for 11 psychic and 19 (9) slashing dmg then misses

- Lyrielle smacks H for 9 bludgeoning then she punches him for 7 bludgeoning dmg and knocking him prone then she kicks him for 9 bludgeoning dmg

- Z1 moves to Tina and misses twice

- Tina casts Magic Missile at 2nd level on Z1 for 14 force dmg

- Z2 moves to flank Rusty with H then misses twice

- Osiris casts Healing Word (4th level) on Rusty for 19 HP then she casts Sacred Flame on H for 14 radiant dmg and he DIES then she flies back 10'

- Z3 moves to flank Tina and claws her for 12 slashing dmg total

- Tiff casts Melf's Acid Arrow on LB for 13 acid dmg and she disappears in a poof of inky blackness, and Tiff is pretty sure that she teleported in some fashion but probably not a super long-distance teleport then she yells to Tina, "See if you can do something about the fog!"

The fog expands and two more zombies (4 and 5) appear

- Rusty turns and slices into Z2 for 23 slashing dmg and then obliterates it with 29 slashing dmg then moves to flank Z1 with Tina

- Z4 moves to flank Rusty and then claws him for 8 (4) slashing and then 7 (3) slashing dmg

- Raiàn moves forward to see into the open door of the mausoleum and she doesn't see any movement in there, but she still casts Fireball into the open door and fire shoots out of the door and the clerestory windows. Ashes fly everywhere and she walks the rest of the way up to the door

- Z5 moves up to Raiàn misses her then claws her for 7 slashing dmg and then she reacts with Telekinetic Reprisal and it takes 11 force dmg and then he is pushed 10' away

- Lyrielle moves to flank with Tina then smacks Z3 for 13 bludgeoning then she kicks it for 7 bludgeoning dmg

- Z1 claws Tina for 7 slashing dmg then again for 6 slashing dmg

- Tina casts Gust of Wind through the fog and it begins to disperse

- Osiris lands and runs over to the middle of the fray and Turns Undead and Z4 is now turned and then she casts Healing Word on Tina for 10 HP

- Z3 claws Tina for 4 slashing and then again for 6

- Tiff moves back next to Tina and Cures her Wounds for 7 HP

The fog is dispersed.

- Rusty slices Z1 in half and then moves to flank Z3 with Tiff but misses

- Z4 runs away into the city

- Raiàn casts Wither and Bloom on Z5 for 4 (8) necrotic dmg and Rusty gets 9 HP

- Z5 moves to flank Rusty and claws him for 11 slashing dmg then again for 7 slashing dmg

- Lyrielle smacks Z3 for 7 bludgeoning dmg and it collapses and then she moves to flank Z5 and punches it for 9 bludgeoning dmg and that one also collapses

END OF BATTLE

- The mausoleum is on fire, or at least the door is, and anything inside the room

- There is an area where LB was setting up some sort of spell thing, but it's destroyed now

- It's too destroyed for Tiff to figure out what kind of spell they were casting 

- Rusty picks up Henry's sword 

- There are no stairs or other doors out of the mausoleum

- Osiris uses her fly speed to fly up a few tens of feet, but she can't see anything useful like where LB went

- Tina does not really like fighting, or at least she doesn't like getting hit

- 3,500 XP ea for 57,390 XP total ea

Trying to Make Double Agents #HalloweenPotLuck - October 28, 2022

 - From the docks market as they are walking to the Temple, the group realizes that it's only been a month since they fought their first blob together, but it does feel like it's been longer because so much has happened. Thanks for the reminder, Tina!

- While they are resting at the Temple, there's a roll of thunder and it starts to rain

- Osiris checks and the weather pattern seems to be a normal storm coming from in the west

- She waits to see if there's any lightning, but it just ripples through the clouds

- Theophania crafts a thermos and fill it with hot tea for the long, cold, rainy, overnight stakeout. 

- The group, including Tina, head to the cemetery (because that's how Sharai got her experience)

- "People like that used to bother me more, but then Ms Sharai taught me that some people are just bitches." This is because Osiris gave her a one word answer to the question, "So you work at the Temple?" and then left her in the dust.

- When Osiris gets to the cemetery (ahead of everybody) she casts Leomund's Tiny Hut so they can wait in the "not rain". She sets it close enough to the destroyed circle that they can watch it without it being super obvious

- Tina and Tiff sit in the Hut and chat and Osiris slowly (or not so slowly) loses her mind

- Osiris convinces Tiff (finally) to take Tina to see where the summoning circle was before Rusty destroyed it

- The nearest headstone marker says that it is a bear of some sort

- Raiàn does a bit of a patrol staying within sight of the hut

- Tiff and Tina return to the hut, much to Osiris's dismay

- Raiàn looks for but doesn't find any graves marked for any kind of dragonkind

- Tina and Lyrielle settle down to Trance, so Tiff also settles down to rest

- Osiris sees a couple of figures (short, maybe 48-54" tall max), and they are maybe 100' from the Hut

- The figures go over to a grave area and start doing something

- Raiàn who was still walking around creeps closer to them and sees that they seem to be trying to draw another circle, but the rain and mud is making it difficult. They look like tweens or early teenage humans.

- Raiàn walks right up to both of them and puts her arms around their shoulders and asks what they are up to.

- Tiff, Tina, Lyrielle, and Rusty walk up to the boys as well. They are Jeff and Dave and they are drawing "circles", but won't say why.

- Tiff looks over what they were drawing and sees a few similarities to the other necromantic summoning circles, so she asks Lyrielle and Rusty to hold them while she goes through their pockets

- She finds a drawing and hands it to Tina who says this wouldn't summon or conjure anything. All of the runes are gibberish

- Tiff also finds a pouch with 5 GP

- They are urchins. "Independent"

- Rusty Intimidates them into telling him that a "lady" gave them the paper and the GP to draw circles 

- They said that the lady was wearing a fancy hat, but they don't know her name

- She found them in the neighborhood of the Strongwall Prison

- Rusty and Osiris (who abandoned the Hut after a while) insist that they get a walking tour of the city to see all the circles they've drawn so far.

- "What's a carrot?"

- The next circle is slightly better drawn, and Tina says that MAYBE you could add some lines and marks to make it actually do something (because as drawn it does nothing)

- Another Tiny Hut is cast (as a ritual) so that they can pull out Tiff's maps and have the boys point out all the places they were drawing circle and all the locations they point to are in the east half of the city

- There's one just outside of the Trader's Gate, there's this one near the Arena, there's a cemetery just outside the Farmer's Gate, and Tiff knows that there's another cemetery near the prison, and it's one of the very few inside the city walls, and the "lady" specifically told them NOT to go there.

- Rusty pays the urchins 10 GP for being helpful and then tries to convince them to turn double agent and report to Birel at the Temple if she hits them up, and they scamper off with no promises made

- The group heads to the the one cemetery the boys were told not to go to, and on the way there, it finally stops raining

- The cemetery has constructed terrace levels and a mausoleum in the center. There's some kind of greenish light coming from the mausoleum.

- Tiff ritually casts Detect Magic, but in the time it takes for her to do that, Osiris starts looking for circles that Lady B might have drawn herself.

- Lyrielle sneaks around to see if there's another entrance or exit to the mausoleum

- Rusty and Raiàn is watching the door

- Tina is distracting and causes Osiris to make noise, and Henry comes out of the mausoleum and announces the presence of the group
